Description
The psychedelic (Hippy) Porsche 917K chassis number 917-021 raced in more than one colour scheme during 1970. The two cars paired here are actually both 917-021.
The Martini Racing Team had 021 painted in the psychedelic mauve and green livery seen on the long-tail 917 (chassis 043) that came second at Le Mans 24 Hours. It was entered for van Lennep and Larrousse in the Watkins Glen 6 Hours race. 917-021’s last race for the Martini Racing Team was the Kyalami 9 Hours with Siffert and Ahrens at the wheel. For this race it was painted in the yellow and red psychedelic livery for sponsors Shell Oil.
The artwork for each Studio Bilbey print is hand-drawn from scratch – including all the lettering and sponsor’s logo’s, after extensive research into each cars race history and the graphics it carried. The result is the fresh, bold, clean-cut artwork you see here.
