Description

1960 Monaco Grand Prix, signed Tony Brooks lithographic print; superbly evocative shot of the start of the Grand Prix, the eventual winner Stirling Moss in the Lotus 18 in the foreground, with the Cooper-Climax pair of Jack Brabham and ‘racing dentist’ Tony Brooks sharing the front row.

Numbered, limited edition of just 5.

The Monaco Collection is a rare opportunity to acquire a hand signed proof page from the definitive history of the Monaco Grand Prix book: Le Grand Prix Automobile de Monaco, Histoire D’une Legende 1929-1960, by Yves Naquin.

Published by Editions Automobilia, Monaco (1992) with the full endorsement of the principality, it includes a personal message from Prince Rainier in the foreword, together with many previously unseen images from the Palace archive. With various editions produced, it is still regarded as the greatest pictorial history of the Monaco Grand Prix.

At the time of publication, proof pages were selected to be signed as limited editions and have remained in a private collection for many years, we are delighted to now bring these to light. Known as The Monaco Collection, it embraces in its entirety, a diverse and comprehensive selection of images featuring four legendary drivers: Stirling Moss, Tony Brooks, Jack Brabham and Maria Teresa de Filippis.

Each page is hand signed, measures approx. 19.25 x 13.25in (49 x 33.5cm), includes the pagination and binding edge (which can be hidden when framing with a mount if desired), and is supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Offered rolled for worldwide delivery. Framing service available on request, subject to COVID restrictions.

The Monaco Collection is integral to the estate of the late Christine Mills MBE, who in partnership with her late husband David, forged a successful career within motorsport spanning more than thirty years. Following David’s untimely death from cancer in 2002, Christine established Hope for Tomorrow, a Gloucestershire based charity dedicated to bringing cancer care closer to the homes of patients throughout England.

With charity patron Sir Stirling Moss OBE by her side to ‘cut the ribbon’, Christine launched the world’s first Mobile Cancer Care Unit on 14 February 2007. Cancer patients are by the very definition and nature of the disease from which they suffer, perpetually vulnerable and never has the provision of mobile treatment on board what is now a fleet of 12 units, each funded and supplied to NHS Trusts by the charity, been of greater importance than it is during the Coronavirus pandemic. In support of their pioneering work, monies generated from the sale of this print, will be donated to Hope for Tomorrow.
