Description
Manfred von Brauchitsch is dragged from the cockpit of his W154 by team manager Alfred Neubauer moments after it spontaneously combusted in the pits.
The noble driver managed to calm his nerves and reenter the race, but the gesture was in vain. Shortly afterward he crashed at high speed and was forced to forfeit the race. This and other mishaps allowed Richard Seaman to take the lead, and, eventually the trophy.
An Englishman driving for the Germans won in the Fatherland.
