Description
Steve McQueen International Six Day Trial, official Bell replica helmet, with bag.
The International Six Days Trial (ISDT) was first established in Carlisle, England and invited five-man teams from countries around the world to a showdown in off-road motorcycle skills. Steve’s stuntman and ISDT teammate, Bud Ekins, famous for the Great Escape motorbike jump stunt, competed in seven ISDTs and won four gold medals and one silver.
The 1964 International Six Day Trial was held in East Germany and McQueen rode a mighty Triumph 650. The East Germans won the event for the second year running.
The 1964 ISDT team including McQueen were dubbed the “California Boys”; they were the first American team to ever compete in the ISDT and McQueen had the honour of carrying the Star-Spangled Banner in the opening ceremony.
Bell released this official replica of the helmet worn by competitor Steve McQueen. The McQueen Bell Jet RT helmet is individually hand painted to order, this being number 706 as shown on the original ‘vera pelle’ strap, the helmet is large size.
The helmet comes in a custom ‘Steve’ inscribed ‘vera pelle’ (real leather) helmet bag, shows signs of light wear, but completely original and with matching bag, a rare find.
