In the March issue of Motor Sport, Nigel Roebuck mentions a video of Lotus in 1968 so we thought we’d share it with you.
1968 was a year of ups and downs for the team. Jim Clark won the season opener at Kyalami, only to perish at Hockenheim before the next Grand Prix. Later in the year, Mike Spence was killed while testing the gas turbine-powered 56 at Indy. And through all the turmoil, Graham Hill used his unique brand of stoicism and humour to keep things going as Chapman flagged, winning his second World Championship and the third constructors’ title for Lotus.
Edit: The video is no longer available on YouTube, but if we do find it somewhere else, we’ll repost it.
