Ferrari's F1 Clienti: The world's most exclusive car club
In this month's edition, Gary Watkins goes behind the scenes with Ferrari's F1 Clienti, the official club and service for Scuderia GP car owners
1) Max Verstappen is the youngest man ever to win a Grand Prix at 18 years old. The next youngest is Sebastian Vettel who won the 2008 Italian Grand Prix aged 21 years and 73 days. The oldest remains Luigi Fagioli who won the 1951 French Grand Prix aged 53.
2) Verstappen is the only Dutch driver to win a Grand Prix. Fifteen other Dutchmen have raced in Formula 1 from Christijan Albers to Roelof Wunderink who started three races in 1975 for HB Bewaking Team Ensign.
3) The last 10 Spanish Grand Prix have been won by 10 different drivers: Verstappen, Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Pastor Maldonado, Sebastian Vettel, Mark Webber, Jenson Button, Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa.
4) It is only the third time a Grand Prix at Barcelona has not been won from the front row. The previous two were Michael Schumacher in 1996 (third on the grid) and Fernando Alonso in 2013 (fifth).
5) Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas are now the only two drivers on the grid in 2016 that have scored points in every round.
6) The last time there wasn’t a Mercedes on the podium was the Singapore Grand Prix in 2015. The podium then included Vettel, Riccciardo and Räikkönen.
7) Including Verstappen there have been 15 sons of former F1 drivers who have started a Grand Prix: Kevin Magnussen, Teddy Pilette, Jolyon Palmer, Tim Parnell, Nelson Piquet Junior, Markus Winkelhock, Kazuki Nakajima, Nico Rosberg, Jacques Villeneuve, Michael Andretti, Damon Hill, Christian Fittipaldi, David Brabham, Hans-Joachim Stuck and Verstappen. Only four – Rosberg, Villeneuve, Verstappen and Hill – have won races.
8) The last two times team-mates took each other out while fighting for the lead of a Grand Prix were Prost and Senna at Suzuka in 1989 and Webber and Vettel in Istanbul in 2010.
9) Verstappen has now completed 71 races in single seaters. Twenty-four of those have been F1 races, 33 were in the 2014 European F3 Championship, 12 were in that year’s Florida Winter Series, one was at Macau and the other the Zandvoort Masters. Kimi Räikkönen, who pressured Verstappen for much of the race, had completed only 23 single seater races before graduating to F1 in 2001. He has now started 236 Grands Prix, however.
10) Daniil Kvyat, having been dropped in favour of Verstappen at Red Bull, recorded the fastest lap of the race. Scant consolation one would presume…
