Three teams will adopt new colours in their liveries for the 2024 United States Grand Prix — some of which look very familiar...

The 2024 United States Grand Prix ends a month-long break from Formula 1 action and there will be some obvious changes, as teams are mark the occasion with a US-themed one-off livery.

Ever since the world championship began racing at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), drivers and teams have embraced the Texan theme. From adopting the colours of the stars and stripes to arriving at paddock on horseback — as Daniel Ricciardo did in 2022 — Formula 1 has never been afraid to show some love to one of its newest and largest fanbases.

2024 is set to be no different. Here’s every custom livery you’ll see at the 2024 United States Grand Prix.

Can you ever have too much chrome? McLaren doesn’t think to seem so.

Alongside numerous Google Chrome logos and accompanying wheel covers, the MCL38 will run at COTA in a reimagined version of its fan-favourite chrome livery, which aims to pay homage to the teams title-winning MP4-23 from 2008 with “a modern twist to represent the team’s enduring legacy.”

It’s not the first time the scheme has made an appearance, as a similar livery was last used at the 2023 British GP. But while it may have turned heads, the new-look did come with some drawbacks. The McLaren’s highly reflective paint job blinded trackside viewers and made it almost impossible to spot Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri‘s race numbers.

Will fans miss the Woking outfit’s regular livery? Alpine has it covered…

Alpine has failed miserably in trying to replicate McLaren’s pace in 2024, so it has seemingly stolen its livery instead.

In a collaboration with Xbox, the Enstone outfit will run a black and ‘sunset orange’ colour scheme this weekend as it promotes the release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the video game.

It looks awfully close to papaya, but the car’s predominantly orange livery will include some additional details including an ancient map and red travel routes — as seen in the film series — as well as themed driver numbers.

Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon‘s race suits will also be on-theme: including a world map with golden notes.

“Working to bring alive the incredible Indiana Jones and the Great Circle livery for the United States Grand Prix has been fantastic,” said Alpine team boss Oliver Oakes. “The new look will be right at home in the Austin setting this weekend.”

The US Grand Prix’s only home team has gone classic for 2024, as Haas will run in a custom livery inspired by the stars and stripes.

Complementing the usual red, white and black colour scheme are some blue highlights and a smattering of stars — a nod to the US flag. But a new paint job will perhaps be the least notable new addition to Haas’ VF-24.

“In Austin we’re bringing our main update for the final part of the season which will mainly involve another step of development in the floor and bodywork,” explained Technical Director Andrea De Zordo. “The target, as always, will be to improve aero load in order to make the car faster.”

The Haas rear wing will also feature the logo of the team’s new technical partner — Toyota Gazoo Racing — which began providing design, technical and manufacturing services to the US outfit a week prior to its home home race.

Red Bull were set to rock another custom livery in the US — until…

Red Bull planned to run custom fan-created liveries in Singapore and in the US — similar to the one it used at this year’s British GP — as part of a competition run by REBL CUSTMS. But then decided otherwise.

Having been passed by McLaren in the constructors’ standings in Azerbaijan, the reigning world champions have decided to pile all efforts into performance by reducing weight where it can — custom liveries being the first casualty.

During the testing phase of some designs, it was found that they would add 1kg to the total weight of the RB20, which can cost upwards of 0.04sec per lap — potentially crucial in a tight qualifying session.

“As I’m sure you can imagine, any additional weight compromises performance and the team are continuing to prioritise making this car as competitive as possible for the remainder of the 2024 season,” said Red Bull in a statement.

“As a result, it is with a heavy heart that we must let you know the team has made the decision to not run the REBL CUSTMS liveries on the RB20 at the Singapore and United States GPs.”
