How to watch the 2022 British GP: F1 race start time, TV schedule and live streams
Watch the 2022 British Grand Prix live on free-to-view TV or stream it: all the timings for this weekend's practice, qualifying and race sessions from Silverstone
Whether you’re watching on Sky or Channel 4 this weekend, the British Grand Prix is live, so you can watch every minute of the action along with the sellout crowd.
Silverstone is rarely short of drama: 2021 provided an explosive first lap, while Lewis Hamilton won on three wheels the year before, and there’s every reason to predict another classic.
With the fast-sweeping corners of Maggots and Becketts through to the technical Village section, Silverstone is a track that requires a driver to be on top form to tame it.
The man currently on that form is Max Verstappen, who, after another dominant weekend at Canada, is the driver to beat.
Ferrari and Charles Leclerc will be looking to reignite the spark in their championship, while Mercedes’ home-heroes Hamilton and George Russell will be hoping that upgrades can catapult them to the front.
The W-series also returns with Jamie Chadwick looking to extend her run of race victories to six this weekend on home soil.
Will the British Grand Prix deliver another classic race for the history books? Here’s when you’ll need to start watching to find out.

Who will win?
With Verstappen and Red Bull further stretching their championship leads in Canada, Ferrari come into the weekend knowing they must maximise their results to keep their championship hopes alive.
The Silverstone circuit is exceptionally fast, with the average speeds up in the 145mph range due to the many fast corners and long straights. This has typically been the type of track that Red Bull has excelled at this season with the Ferrari favouring slower-speed corners instead.
Ferrari and Leclerc must be able to maximise through the more technical sections of Turns 3,4 and 5 as well as the final chicane at Club corner if they are to pose a challenge to Red Bull.
However, Silverstone has historically been a track tough on reliability and with both Red Bull and Ferrari suffering from retirements and technical issues in recent races, it may well turn out to be a war of attrition between the two teams.
Meanwhile, Mercedes’ hope of an improved season may be realised this weekend as it brings a new upgrade package that is tipped to help realise the potential of the W13.
These upgrades paired with the smoother asphalt at Silverstone may well give homeboys Hamilton and Russell a shot at the top step of the podium.
Lewis Hamilton can never be counted out at Silverstone as he looks to further increase on his record of eight-home victories.
George Russell will also be looking to excel at his first home Grand Prix in a competitive car with his streak of top-five finishes continuing after his P4 finish in Canada.
Red Bull will be wary of the potential Mercedes threat, but Max Verstappen will be feeling confident with his 46-point championship lead over the rest of the field heading into the race.
Sergio Perez will be hoping to cement himself as a championship challenger as he aims to close the gap between himself and Verstappen and stop the Dutchman from further increasing his sizeable advantage in the standings.
How many laps is the British Grand Prix?
There will be 52 laps around the 3.7-mile Silverstone Circuit, resulting in a total race distance of 190.3 miles. There will be two DRS zones with the first being on the Wellington straight down into Turn 6 of Brooklands, and then the second along the Hangar straight between turns 14 and 15.
