Silverstone will offer a double dose of Formula 1 this summer after confirming that more than half of the grid will return for its August Bank Holiday festival, following the British Grand prix in July.

At least six F1 teams will attend the Silverstone Festival, with Alpine, Aston Martin, McLaren, Mercedes, Red Bull and Williams displaying cars within an F1 FanZone, where visitors will be able to watch live action from the Dutch Grand Prix on a big screen.

Motor Sport will also have a stand in the FanZone, alongside racing simulators, a wheel-changing pitstop challenge and a Batak light wall, as used by drivers to improve reaction times. Access is included in the price of admission.

“After the interest in the display area for the latest Formula 1 tech last year, we have expanded it for this summer’s Festival,” said Nick Wigley, Silverstone Festival Event Director. “Ever since its very early days, Silverstone has been synonymous with Formula 1 and so we are thrilled to be showcasing the sport’s past and present at the Festival.”

The new area adds more modern F1 to the mix of classic displays and thrilling historic races during the popular three-day event, which was last year known as the The Classic at Silverstone.

Taking place during Silverstone’s 75th anniversary year, the Festival will mark the occasion with a parade of grand prix cars that have raced at the circuit across the decades, and a race featuring front-engined GP cars from the likes of Aston Martin, Ferrari, Maserati and Scarab, which competed during its early days.

Among more than 20 races will be a pre-1966 racing Jaguars showdown, a Formula Libre grid, F1 cars from 1966 to 1985 and pre-1966 touring cars, as well as the Masters GT Trophy, with supercars from 2007-2018.

Live music on the main stage will round off each day. More information and tickets are available from silverstone.co.uk.
