Damon Hill is Rob Widdows’ latest guest in our special podcast series, celebrating 100 years of Motor Sport Magazine.

The 1996 Formula 1 World Champion reflects on following his father’s footsteps into the world of Grand Prix racing, where he helped to develop Nigel Mansell‘s 1992 title-winning FW14B car.

Mansell’s departure opened up a race seat for Hill and a series of seasons where he raced alongside and against some of the greatest names that F1 has seen.

He describes Alain Prost‘s meticulous attention to detail during their time as team-mates, as well as Ayrton Senna‘s irrepressible self-belief in the short time that they drove for Williams.

Then came the championship clashes with Michael Schumacher who, according to Hill, never saw him as an equal, even though the Williams driver is content that he gave Schumacher a run for his money.

Hill recounts the famous 1997 Hungarian Grand Prix where he was a lap from victory for Arrows, and then the eventful time at Jordan before his eventual retirement.
