News of the latest change to the MotoGP calendar came a day after the Grand Prix of the Americas was moved from April to November.
This season had been due to begin last weekend in Qatar, but quarantine rules would have prevented Ducati and Aprilia from competing, forcing the cancellation of the premier-class race.
Thailand’s March 22 race was then moved to October, followed by the latest two postponements.
Jerez, in Spain, is now the fifth location to be named as the opening round of the season, which is due to take place on May 3. There’s an increasingly congested schedule towards the end of the year, including visits to Japan, Australia and Malaysia on consecutive weekends.
