The 75th Anniversary Grand Prix Trophy is set to be a highlight this afternoon. Among around 30 cars competing are set to be two cars that raced in the very first 1948 Silverstone meeting: the Talbot Lago T26 that Philippe Étancelin qualified on the front row and ERA R5B, aka ‘Remus’, as driven by John Bolster.
There are more 75th anniversary celebrations too — for Porsche and NASCAR, which both have parades during the weekend; several genuine US stock cars are promised.
There’s a packed schedule of events off track too, with drag car and hot rod runs, stage appearances by top drivers, cooking demonstrations and live music on the main stage.
Tickets are still available but, if you can’t be there, then join us for the next best thing with live coverage throughout the weekend on the Motor Sport website and via our Facebook channel
