Mallory Park is a club circuit built in 1956 around a lake on the site of a former grass track. It suffered from the proximity of Donington Park, and its future was threatened during the 1980s. The major car race to have been held here was the 1962 2000 Guineas, a non-championship Formula 1 event that attracted the likes of Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Jack Brabham, and eventual winner John Surtees. The European Formula 2 Championship opened at Mallory in 1972 and 1973 but the circuit is too short to hold international events in the modern era.
