Sir, Two of your photographs highlight why modern F1 cars are so lacking in grace (although I still adore the sport): the Lotus 78 on the front cover, about 18 months ago, and the Lotus 98T in last month’s Parting Shot. Just look at the sheer simplicity of the nose and front wings with only a trailing-edge trim tab. If only somebody could uninvent Harvey Postlethwaite’s high nose and plank wing, together with all those silly little kick-ups, and reintroduce truly beautiful Grand Prix cars.
