Electric impressions
Although I missed my chance to drive up the hill at the Festival of Speed (a Gumpert Apollo crash saw to that) it was good to see Lord Drayson’s Lola-Drayson B12/69EV put through its paces. It was the first time the electric car has been seen in action by the public and it looked mighty impressive.
“The experience of driving it is weird,” Paul Drayson told me after his first run. “When you drive this sort of car with a Judd V10 in it you can very much hear the engine behind you and you can feel it pushing you. But the sense you get with the electric drive is that the car is being pulled.”
A new four-wheel-drive system is in the works, and keep an eye out for the 2014 FIA Formula E Championship regulations, which will be coming out soon.
