Croft aims for 'northern Revival'

Croft circuit has launched a bid to create some of the Goodwood Revival magic in the North East with the first Croft Nostalgia Weekend (August 7/8). A programme of HSCC championships will make up the race action and the Darlington circuit is urging spectators to attend in period dress.

Off-track attractions will include military, classic car, air and other retro displays as well as a Forties Fashion Show. The racing programme will include 16 events covering nine HSCC championships, including Historic Formula 5000 and Formula 2, Formula Junior and the Guards Trophy for sports-racing and GT cars. A race for the 500cc Formula 3 Series will represent the 1940s.

“This is very much a first for not just Croft but the region as a whole,” said circuit manager Tracey Morley. “The big historic motor sport events tend to be based in the south. We felt it was time to give the North East an event of its own.”
