The Motor Racing Legends Pre-War Sportscar Series will have an additional race at Silverstone on September 10 in support of the inaugural Silverstone 24 Hours. The 40-minute race will run immediately before the 4pm start of the endurance race and will be open to 42 cars on the Silverstone GP circuit.

Owners of classic F1 cars who prefer not to race them will have the chance to take part in demonstration sessions during rounds of the Thoroughbred Grand Prix Championship next season. In response to interest from car owners, track time each day will be made available for suitable cars.

The Goodwood Marshals’ Club is hard at work to attract new recruits ahead of the Revival meeting in September. The club gained exposure with a stand at the Festival of Speed, reporting interest from around 100 people. It hopes to widen its promotion in 2006. Former Grand Prix racer Mike Wilds is eager to return to historic rallying even though his debut on the Manx Historic Rally ended in retirement. Before the gearbox failed on his XS Racing Porsche 911, Wilds was starting to enjoy the experience despite sliding off the road in dark and foggy conditions on the opening leg.

Roger Nathan returned to racing for the first time since the late 1980s when he shared the Brabham BT8 of Brendan Roberts during the Silverstone Classic Meeting. Nathan, who raced a BT8 40 years ago, tested the car at Silverstone in May and accepted the offer of a drive in the Gentleman Drivers Sports Racing Challenge event.

The third running of the Gran Premio Argentino Histórico will be held from September 2-10, covering over 2300 miles in six legs of sealed and unsealed Argentinean roads. The historic regularity run is open to touring cars of the 1950s and 1960s and entries include 1960 standard class winner Gunnar Andersson in a Volvo PV544.
