Ferraris and ERAs for See Red

The Ferrari line-up for the VSCC’s ‘See Red’ event at Donington Park in September has been boosted by confirmation that the Ferrari Grand Prix team will send a 2002 ex-Schumacher car to the event. The ’02 car will join eight earlier F1 Ferraris from the Corse Clienti operation in track demonstrations on both days of the September 11-12 event.

Interest is rapidly growing in two of the feature races on the programme, which also includes six races in all for cars from the Shell Ferrari/Maserati Historic Challenge.

The organisers hope that the event dedicated to ERAs and ERA-engined cars will attract all ERAs barring R1A and R6B, while ERA-powered cars including the Brooke Special and the White Riley are set to appear. While a couple of cars will be on display only, John Ure (R9B), Mac Hulbert (R4D) and David Morris (R11B) are among the leading entries celebrating the marque’s 70th anniversary.

The three-hour team relay race for pre-war sportscars, starting at 4pm on Saturday, is heading for a capacity field of 30 teams, comprising four drivers and up to six cars. The meeting also includes a series of VSCC races, among them the Vintage and Historic Seaman Trophies. Weekend admission is £25 in advance, or £13 per day; tel: 01608 644999.
