I WAS INTRIGUED BY THE PHOTO

last month ofJohn Bolster and Bloody Mary at a speed-trial at Croydon Airport in 1939.1 thought I knew Croydon rather well, having in the early 1920s made my long-suffering mother hang about there while I waited to see aeroplanes like Instone’s DH4a, Vimys, HP 0/400s, Farman Goliaths and DH18s, etc, arrive or depart, usually at very long intervals. In later years I paid visits, armed with a Tarmac-pass provided by C G Grey of The Aeroplane, to see famous record-breakers alight there. But I had forgotten this speed-trial; could someone please provide the name of the organising club and date?
