Ex-Senna Lotus turbo goes under the hammer

The Lotus 98T, chassis number 4, raced by Ayrton Senna in the last seven grands prix of the 1986 season will go to auction on August 25 during the Silverstone Historic Festival. The 1.5-litre Renault V6 turbo car, capable of producing more than 1000bhp, was demonstrated by Nigel Mansell during last year’s Silverstone event.

After the end of ’86, the car was sold to an American collector before returning to Britain to be maintained by Classic Team Lotus. Its best result was second in the Hungarian GP.
