Goodwood sets 1998 race date
Lord March has relaunched the Goodwood Road Racing Company the name used when Goodwood Motor Circuit last hosted race meetings in 1966to mark its reopening next year.
As revealed in MOTOR SPORT last month, the famous circuit will host a historic race meeting over the Bank Holiday weekend August 29-31, within Iwo weeks of the 50th anniversary of the first meeting staged by Lord March’s grandfather on Westhampnen Airfield.
Earth banking, designed to provide viewing galleries and noise screening, is currently being built around the 2.4-mile track, and other features will recreate those of yore. “Lord March is determined to keep the ’50s and ’60’s aura going,” said GRRC’s Janet Bradley.
The sixth Festival of Speed event will take place in the adjacent grounds of Goodwood House on June 19-21.
