Ferrari's 500th
Ferrari celebrated its 500th World Championship race in Hungary, although technically its 500th Grand Prix will actually be at Spa (Alberto Ascari entered the Indy 500 in 1952 when it was a World Championship round but not actually a GP).
Courtesy of Albert Obrist, Gigi Villoresi drove the 375 F1, Maurice Trintignant the 555 Super Squalo, Tony Brooks the 246 Dino, Giancarlo Baghetti the 312 B3, Roberto Moreno the 312 T2 (which he reckoned was better than the Andrea Moda!), JJ Lehto the F1/88 which blew up on Saturday, and Nicola Larini an F92A. Patrick Tambay drove his own car, 126 C2B chassis 065, which has such special significance for him as he won the 1983 San Marino GP in it, ‘for Gilles’.
