New Record by B.M.C. Car

A new experimental car to come from the British Motor Corporation recently set up 53 records at the Bonneville Salt Flats at Utah. Both American and International long-distance records were broken. The car itself was a supercharged four-cylinder 948-c.c.-engined model — the power unit being basically similar to that fitted to the Austin A35 and Morris 1000. This streamlined car journeyed round the circuit, which was ten miles long, for a total of 1,417 miles, at the same time averaging very nearly 50 m.p.g., to take the Class G record at 117.48 m.p.h.
