BARC year book, 1956.
116 pp, 81/2 in by 51/2 in. Soft covers. (British Automobile Raring Club, 55 Park Lane, London, W1. 5s) Rather late in the season this hardy annual has appeared, a resumption, as it were, of the Brooklands BARC Year Books of pre-war memory. It naturally contains much BARC data, such as a review of that club’s 1955 season, articles by Hawthorn on Goodwood and Moss on Aintree, a list of the principal race winners at the 1948-55 BARC meetings, full BARC race results (Goodwood. Aintree and the Crystal Palace) for last season, lap records and speed tables for these circuits. The book also has a broader appeal, as information on Continental circuits, how to get to them, results of 1955 races thereat, etc is included, while special articles cover the new Grand Prix Formula, and Automobile Gas Turbines. Quite a number of pictures go to make op the dollar’s worth and of these the plum goes to that showing Stirling in the throes of being hugged by Mirabelle Topham. WB
