Lamborghini reaches for the stars with new Urus at Pikes Peak
Question: you’re a leading luxury sports car brand with a new Chelsea tractor to promote; what’s the best way to prove it’s quite a quick Chelsea tractor that could potentially even travel beyond Chelsea, even though realistically it never will? Answer: set a new record at the Pikes Peak hillclimb with it.
That’s exactly the thinking Lamborghini has employed with its new Urus, which has just done exactly that. Driver Simone Faggioli, a time trial champion and Pirelli test driver, tackled the 156 turns of the famed Colorado track in a record time of 10min 32.064sec. That beats the former SUV class record set by a Bentley Bentayga back in 2018 by over 17 seconds. Lamborghini’s Rouven Mohr said: “The decision to challenge ourselves at Pikes Peak fits into Lamborghini’s ‘Expect the Unexpected’ spirit and demonstrates the outstanding performance of the new Urus.” In other news, it can also do the school run…
