The British auction house was celebrating the 15th anniversary of its sale at Quail Lodge and the ex-GTC Gulf Team Davidoff McLaren Fl GTR `Longtair made sure it celebrated in style. The hammer finally fell at just beyond £8m. A 1966 Ford GT40 also sold well, realising £1.4m.
Bonhams has released details of the Hartley Collection, which it will sell at the Goodwood Revival. The four cars, which haven’t been on the market for 60 years, include a 1929 Maserati Tipo 26M four-seater sports racer with Brooklands Double Twelve, Irish GP and RAC TT history (£1.8-2.2m) and a 1920s Maserati V4 16-cylinder GP replica (£400-500,000).
Also in the sale will be the ex-works Lord Selsdon and Lord Waleran 1939 Lagonda V12 Le Mans, expected to fetch at least £1m, and the ex-works Austin-Healey 3000 MKIII (ARX 91B), which has a price tag of £180-220,000.
