‘Facilities better in the ’50s’

Sir,

Further to the picture you printed of the spectator area at Silverstone with a stream running through it (Matters of Moment, September issue), I wish I had snapped upwards of 50 males using the wooded area between Village and the car parks as a toilet. This is not a criticism of them but just highlights the lack of facilities for paying customers. The queue for the gents was at least half an hour long. The facilities for the paying public are a disgrace!

I attended my first British Grand Prix in 1959 and the facilities if anything were better then, and we were not paying a fortune to get in.

It might be a work in progress, but Nigel Roebuck was right to imply that Bernie might be happy but the punters aren’t. Dave Sherratt, Rainhill, Merseyside
