THE KILLER YEARS

This documentary cha its the tragic story of the many accidents and deaths in Grand Prix racing during the 1960s and ’70s. For many the DVD will be a sad reminder of how many great drivers lost their lives during this dark period in the sport’s history, especially with some very graphic footage of the accidents and their aftermaths. The grainy film of Lorenzo Bandini being pulled from his burnt-out Ferrari at the 1967 Monaco Grand Prix is particularly harrowing. However, the race footage and interviews throughout are extremely good. Sir Jackie Stewart, Jacky lckx, Emerson Fiffipaldi, Nina Rindt and many others offer insight to what it was like to be involved in Formula 1 during this time and what impact these accidents had on them. Despite the sensationalist title it’s an extremely well put together DVD and a hard reminder of how lucky we are nowadays. EF Bigger Picture Films, www.killeryears.com, £24.99
