Fangio's finest
Maserati is marking the 50th anniversary of the 1957 German Grand Prix by displaying the race-winning 250F at the Frankfurt motor show from September 13-23. Juan Manuel Fangio drove chassis 2529 to victory at the Nürburgring on August 4, 1957 and rated the performance the best of his career. The www.maseraticelebratesfangio.com website celebrates the ’57 season.
The Italian maker presented a trophy to the highest-placed 250F in the pre-1960 race at the OldTimer Grand Prix at the Nürburgring on August 12. The trophy, and the race, were won Max Werner in his ex-Masten Gregory car from Frank Stippler in the ex-Jean Behra 250F (full report next month).
