Shelsley washout
Torrential rain and flooding which hit Worcestershire on Friday July 20 led to a landslip at Shelsley Walsh and forced the postponement of the meeting planned to mark 60 years of the British Hillclimb Championship.
During the night a section of the spectator banking between the Members’ Gate and Bottom Ess was washed on to the hill (left) and so the event scheduled for August 17-19 had to be postponed. Instead, the meeting will now be held on October 6/7, which will in consequence combine the concluding rounds of the British and Midland Hillclimb Championship with a condensed version of the 60th anniversary event. Around 30 significant cars from the history of the British Championship will make up the programme in additional classes, and past champions will also attend.
