Off the blocks

The ex-Jo Bonnier BRM P25 returned to racing at Goodwood after a 15-month rebuild in the hands of marque experts Hall & Hall.

Rick and his son Rob have reconstructed the car following the terrible accident that claimed the life of Spencer Flack at Philip Island in Australia in February 2002.

With the support of the Flack family, the 1959 Dutch Grand Prix-winning car has now been restored. In the accident, the gearbox and fuel tank were wrenched from the chassis, but the chassis itself was largely undamaged.

All new suspension has been made, while a new magnesium tail section has been crafted. However, the car now has more original bodywork than at the time of the accident. Flack had set aside the original cockpit, nose and undertray, and these parts have been incorporated during the rebuild.
