Re the speed trial picture of John Bolster captioned as taking place at Croydon Airport, I have discovered that it was actually held at the Autodrome’s School of Motoring in the town, where roads on which learners could practise were suitable for such an event. So London’s Air Terminal cannot not add that accolade to its other events.

The 50th anniversary of John Cobb’s fatal accident on September 29, 1952, while attempting to break the water speed record on Loch Ness, is to be remembered by local people who knew and respected the great driver (holder of the Brooklands lap record etc), and by a BBC Scotland radio programme. As it should be.

The Morgan Three-Wheeler Club is enthusiastic and active. The leaders in its Racing Championship after six rounds were Bill and Maggie Tuer (1933 Super Sports), 53.75sec at Prescott, Stuart Harper/Prue Saunders (1924 Ware rep) and Greg Bibby/Paula Heaney (1933 Super Sports).
