The Rockingham 500 ChampCar race will be screened on BBC2 Grandstand on Sunday September 23, the day after the race at the Northamptonshire oval. Ninety minutes of coverage will be transmitted.
The 1935 ERA ‘Remus’ Is being sold. After 42 years of ownership by Hon. Patrick Lindsay and Ludovic Lindsay, the former Prince Bira car is on sale with Hall & Bradfield Ltd. in South Kensington. Robin Lodge ran his Lancia D50 at the VSCC Silverstone meeting, one of just two chances for UK racegoers to see the car this year. Preparation ace Tony Merrick has recently overhauled the car and has converted its shrill V8 Lancia engine to run on methanol, as it did in its heyday.
Despite being shunted at Shelsley Walsh a week earlier, Martin Stretton’s Tyrrell P34 was refettled in time for the International Trophy race at Silverstone’s Historic Festival… only to suffer even greater damage in the startline shunt.
