Ickx and his tricks

SIR,

Just back from the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, where I was once again reminded of the great Jacky Ickx.

He was the man who won 10 Formula One races, including eight grands prix, was six times a Le Mans winner, the F2 champion in 1967, the Can-Am champion in 1979, winner of two Paris-Dakar Raffles, 20 or more long-distance races (including two times World Endurance titles in 1982 and 1983), and the man who above all made very difficult circuits such as Spa,Clermont-Ferrand, Montjuich Park and especially the Nürburgring Nordschleife his territory.

Remember the German Grand Prix of 1967, 1969 and 1972, where he so clearly won in front of the great Jackie Stewart? Or the Spanish GP in 1971? And Brands Hatch and Monza in 1972, where he so brilliantly demonstrated his skill before the machinery once again broke down?

What more is there to prove? Like Clark and Moss, he was an ace in all categories.

I am,Yours etc,

Christian Frederiksen, Denmark
