Mrs Joan Birkett

Joan Birkett died recently at the age of 82, after a long illness. Though seldom seen at our sort of events, she helped the inimitable, never-to-beforgotten Holland Birkett with his veterinary practice, and extended hospitality at all hours of the day and night to “Holly’s” many motoring friends. His second wife. Jean looked after all of us who, during the war and afterwards, happened to visit the equally-never-to-be-forgotten Birkett residence, “Pondtail” in Fleet. She was rewarded by listening with obvious enjoyment to tales of our motoring adventures when we returned from long journeys in vintage cars. A very warm appreciation must be part of our record of her passing. W B
