Drivers And Cars
As recorded elsewhere, when the Wolseley Hornet Special Club brought together cars, actual or similar to those which took part in the 1932 LCC Relay Race at Brooklands, at the recent Christie’s Silverstone meeting, three of the drivers from the original race turned up. The Brooklands Society is compiling a register of surviving cars which raced at, or had other associations with, Brooklands. But not all that many of those who drove them remain. I can think of less than 20 who come instantly to mind.
Maybe the Society should make a note of drivers as well as cars, from the old Brooklands days? Not every driver from that distant age wants to be involved in publicity stunts, get-togethers or interviews, so the addresses of those known to me are not for publication. But there can be no harm in tactfully keeping in touch.
