Formula Two Round-Up
Although a first corner crash eliminated Frenchman Rene Arnoux at Rouen, he retained his year-long championship lead. Arnoux’s Martini-Renault collided with the Chevron-Hart of Patrick Tambay (above) in the French road race, wchich was eventually won by the Ralt-BMW of Eddie Cheever. Arnoux is pictured with team-mate Didier Pironi and manager Hughes de Chaunac, after winning Nogaro a fortnight later. Chevron’s fortunes changed at Enna when the Finnish driver keke Rosberg took the first European championship F2 win for the marque in five years (below) while, in the most recent round in Misano in Italy, the Chevron-Ferrari of Lamberto Leoni followed up the Sicilian win with a second straight Chevron victory.
