Ferrari fans left Monza highly disappointed after both 312B3s retired after leading. Right, Regazzoni (11) takes the lead from Lauda’s smoking sister car just before the Austrian pulled in. The Ferrari troubles left Peterson’s Lotus 72 (below) to lead Fittipaldi’s McLaren home by less than one second. Bottom, Vittorio Brambilla drove a good race in his works March before crashing at the chicane.
