ANTICIPATING A NEW MODEL?
ANTICIPATING A NEW MODEL?
Sir,
In view of your recent references to the Rover 2000 which you have acquired as your personal car, you may be interested in the engine change which I made to my car.
Soon after the Rover 2000 was announced, I had the idea that a combination of its good qualities with those of the Daimler 2i-litre V8 should constitute an outstanding motor car and when the opportunity to obtain a Daimler engine and gearbox arose, I decided to buy it and see what I could do with it.
I was able to complete the change without meeting any insurmountable difficulties. The car has now been running for about a year, and some 8,000 miles, without any apparent snags. Apart from very heavy clutch operation, the conversion has not altered the Rover handling characteristics at all. Petrol consumption on two separate Week-end trips Of 600 miles each was a surprising 27 m.p.g.
In conclusion, I should like you to know that I have been a reader of MoTox SPoirr for a number of years and like the impartiality of your road tests.
