New sports car to bear Wolf name

The Wolf name made famous by Jody Scheckter in Formula 1 in 1977 is on course to return to international motor sport in 2012.

The owners of the rights to the Wolf trademark have commissioned the Italian Avelon Formula squad to build an LMP2 car. This car follows on from a Group CN car that has raced in the Italian prototype series for the past two years and made a guest appearance in the British SPEED Series at Silverstone in September.

Work has already started on the LMP2 design at the Brescia-run team, and the first car is scheduled to start testing in the middle of next year ahead of its 2012 race debut.
