New lease of life for Maserati GT
The racing career of the Maserati MC12 has been extended for one season to encompass the first year of the FIA GT1 World Championship.
The V12-engined supercar, which has won three FIA GT Championship crowns since its debut in 2004, was to become obsolete on the introduction of new rules for the inaugural GT1 World series. Now, performance-reducing modifications have given it a chance to race on.
The Aston Martin DBR9, Chevrolet Corvette C6.R and Saleen S7R have also been revised for the new series.
The only cars built to the 2010 rules so far are the Nissan GT-R, Ford GT and Lamborghini Murcielago RS-C.
