Mallock, Sytner back to roots
Racing veterans Ray Mallock and Frank Sytner made their Formula Ford 1600 comebacks at the Oulton Park Gold Cup meeting in August – four decades after they last raced in the category.
Mallock has acquired the rare front-engined car raced by his younger brother Richard in 1971. “This is my first Formula Ford race since 1969,” he said. “I did just six Formula Ford races that year, my first season of racing.”
Sytner raced Simon Hadfield’s Merlyn Mk20 in his first FF1600 race since 1972, when he drove the similar ex-Ian Scheckter car.
