Ferrari F430 Scuderia

Andrew Frankel

All things being equal, by this time next month I’ll have driven Ferrari’s new F430 Scuderia. Limited edition specials like the F40, F50 and Enzo aside, this is Ferrari’s most extreme production car, and while the idea of its naturally aspirated 4.3-litre, 510bhp engine allied to a paddle-shift box that’ll change gear in just 60 milliseconds seems almost impossibly thrilling, the most exciting thing about the Scuderia is that it has also had 100kg shaved off its kerbweight. The standard F430 is already an extremely light, capable and captivating machine, so the Scuderia has every opportunity to be a landmark of supercar design. Even if it’s not, it should be fun finding out.
