Goodwood Revival brought a remarkable return to the track for the 1922 TT-winning Sunbeam; it was the first time that Chassagne’s car has raced in England in 83 years. Bentley stalwart Stanley Mann conducted it in the Brooklands race and enjoyed it hugely despite its 30-year old tyres and some fuel problems.
The British Historic Rally Championship will have a round in the Kielder forest complex in 2007 following confirmation that the Pirelli International Rally has been added to the schedule.
A total attendance of 110,000 people set a Goodwood Revival gate record in September during the ninth running of the historic race meeting. Despite mixed weather, the crowd enjoyed me excellent racing and an amazing eight Spitfire fly-past; a date for the September 2007 event is due to be announced shortly.
The Eastern Creek circuit in Australia will host a special ‘Tasman Revival’ meeting in early December to recreate the memorable Tasman series of the 1960s. The venue will be ‘dressed’ in period trim and races for cars from the era will take centre-stage.
