Jolly good fellows
Sir, Your article on the ’50 Greatest Partnerships’ (October 2004) will certainly spark a few letters.
I agree with the majority of duos and trios on your list, but I think your panel of experts failed to shine the spotlight on one of the most formidable partnerships currently competing in production-based sportscar racing: Ron Fellows and Johnny O’Connell, the drivers from the works Chevrolet Corvette C5-R programme that tackles the GTS class at Le Mans and in the American Le Mans Series.
During their first race together, the 2001 Daytona 24 Hours, they marched to victory. Since then they have won 23 out of 40 races, against tough opposition: factory Vipers, Prodrive Ferraris and Saleens, and have also taken three ALMS drivers’ titles in three years.
They were, surely, deserving of a place on your list.
