Amon and anon

Sir,

Your article on Chris Amon reminded me of a photograph (below) I took as a 14-year-old schoolboy on the Friday practice session for the 1965 German Grand Prix (yes, there were ways to charm yourself into the paddock in those days).

It shows Chris in discussion with an unknown gentleman. In the intervening 32 years I have never been able to identify that person. Do any Motor Sport readers know who he is?

Chris had been entered originally under race number 23 with Ian Raby’s Brabham BT3, but somehow must have hitched a ride in one of the Parnell Lotus-BRMs originally entered for lnnes Ireland. Ian then practised his BT3 but did not qualify for the race.

I am, Yours etc,

Lutz Montowski, Palenberg, Germany
