New date for classic Le Mans event
The organisers of The Classic Le Mans event have announced a switch to a September date for the eagerly anticipated 2002 edition. Initially planned to run in mid-July, the 24 hour event will now run over the weekend of September 21/22, following some protracted negotiations with local authorities
Up to 300 cars spanning the history of the race up until 1975 will take part, split into five age groups. Each group will then contest four sprint races during the 24-hour period. Priority will be given to cars which actually contested the French classic, with the option for drivers to share cars or even drive more than one car.
