From Indonesia to Goodwood
Sir,
I moved to West Java a year ago and returned to Beaulieu recently for the Autojumble. On my return to the Far East I bought Motor Sport at Heathrow. At around 30,000 feet I opened it at the 1948 Goodwood Paddock scene and there in front of me was my 1930 Alfa 1750 Testa Fissa FGU 108 which I have owned and campaigned for nearly 40 years. Many years ago I was fortunate enough to meet Major Baker of Stubble Fields Garage, St Leonard’s, who entered and raced my car at that meeting. Have any other readers identified their car past or present from that evocative scene?
I am, yours, etc. David Baylis, West Java, Indonesia
