Renault 21

The Renault 21 saloon is hardly an inspiring car. Competent, dependable…and dull. Renault has now introduced a hatchback into the range as well as the four-wheel drive Quadra in both normally aspirated and turbocharged form. While it was a unique opportunity to drive the cars in the Yemen Arab Republic, it was not really the right location with regard to arriving at a true impression. In order to combat the great heat, all the cars were air conditioned, which took approximately 20% of the power, while the high altitude left them further breathless. By the time the British party arrived the turbocharged models were all out of commission, but we hope to avail ourselves of a test car soon to give a true appraisal. WPK
