Delta Devotee

Delta Devotee

You reviewed the Lancia Delta HF Turbo in your July issue. Shortly thereafter I was able to road test one, and bought it. As promised I got performance but also a surprise, this is a “Jekyll and Hyde” car which will potter along quietly and sweetly as an extremely comfortable family hatch-back with great docility — yet all the time Mr H is just waiting for the word “Go”. I don’t personally like the bar graph gauges, which anyway are almost totally obscured by the thick steering-wheel rim. Also the rear window becomes opaque very quickly in net weather necessitating frequent use of the wash/wipe.

This is my fifth Lancia (sixth if you count Dad’s Lambda of 1930) — two Aurelius B21 and B20 GT. two Betas 1600 and 2000 — and I think it’s the best for many years. Sunderland J. D. FRAIL
